Featured Wedding: Amber & Nick

Amber and Nick, Lincoln High School sweethearts, exchanged vows on May 18, 2007 here in Tallahassee. Nick had proposed nearly a year earlier at Tom Brown Park, a place the couple visited often during high school. Using a laptop, and a quirky sense of humor, Nick asked Amber to marry him by sending a facebook request that Amber “add him as her fiancĂ©e.”

With 10 months to plan the wedding, Amber set her sights on an outdoor location to hold her more than 500 guests. When she found the Retreat at Bradley’s Pond, she knew this was the ideal location. “Bradley’s was absolutely perfect—from the beautiful scenery, to the on-site indoor reception location and the affordable price, we were sold at first sight!”

With a location out of the way, the couple focused on their next priorities—the perfect gown and the perfect photographer. Amber went to countless dress shops all over the region searching for “the” dress, but used the internet to locate her photographer. “I was so impressed with Long’s Photography—their work is amazing and they were so patient and helpful, even with my crazy family!”
With the vendors booked, Amber turned her attention to the ballooning guest list. “This was by far the biggest challenge of the wedding—figuring who to include, finding their information and making sure everyone received their invitation on time! I would really advise any bride to do as much as you can when you first get engaged—it will make things a WHOLE lot less stressful as your big day approaches!”
Friday, May 18, 2007 dawned with perfect weather as Amber and Nick greeted 520 family and friends and said “I do” at a lakeside ceremony. “I really can’t even choose one thing I am happiest about! The day was so perfect! The funniest part would have to be the doofy choreographed dance my dad, Nick and I did right after the first dance.”

It was a beautiful wedding indeed. Everything worked great. The weather cooperated. The food was delicious (what happened to the sushi?). Well, there was one minor problem. The groomsman, Brett, busted his jacket button and asked me to sew it back. Which I did. No panic there.

It was nice to meet people from Thomasville Road Baptist church and saw friends I have not seen for a while.

The young couple was definitely happy. The happiness was shown through from the inside. I was somewhat surprised how calm and cool both Nick and Amber were. I did not sense any anxiety but just happiness bursting through their smiles.

We are blessed by the Lord for the great ceremony. It is a fantastic testimony that our Lord will provide when we are faithful to Him. We are very fortunate to witness this union and I am glad to have Amber and Nick lead our youth group at First Baptist Church. Thanks.

Keep up the good work and continue to be model citizens for our Lord.

Best wishes,
Larry Kung
